Class Description: Period food is yummy! Medieval cookbooks are cool!  This one-hour introductory class explores the fascinating world of medieval cookbooks and the art of recipe redaction. We’ll begin by briefly discussing a couple of medieval culinary manuscripts and then examine how recipes were recorded, shared, and adapted across cultures.

The class will then focus on the process of redaction—translating and adapting historical recipes for the modern kitchen. Through examples, you’ll discover how to decode medieval instructions, substitute ingredients, and recreate authentic dishes at home.
No prior experience is required; just bring your curiosity and a love of food history!  Class Handout Link
