What is the Field of Roses?
The Field of Roses allows any challenger the opportunity to meet other like combatants and fight for the honor to send a rose to the recipient of their choosing. This is NOT A TOURNAMENT, it’s more like really enthusiastic open-form pick-ups.
The combatants decide on the victory condition (single bout, best two out of three, first death from an off-side blow, rock/paper/scissors, etc). When the victory condition has been met the victor will tell their opponent to whom the opponent should deliver a rose (“Please deliver a rose to my consort, {name of consort}. They’re over there {gestures} the one wearing blue.” or “Please deliver this rose to {list-person} with my compliments on a well run tournament.”).
The defeated combatant will then approach the Roses Pavilion and acquire a rose from the Regent (or designate).
The defeated combatant would then deliver the rose to the designated recipient. This is a good opportunity to meet new people and practice gallantry and courtly graces.
