“From the Kings Road” – an Onsite(ish) Poetry Competition
From Essex to Canterbury the poets do sing,
And tell of their travels o’er the hills of our King
In rhyme and sweet verse our souls take delight
In the tales spun of travels by dancing firelight
The lilt of the verse rings noble and true
And gives solemnity to the deeds that we do
Come record them in Vingolf and share all your tales
Leave a leaflet of rhyming of shared joys and travail

WOW Annual Garb Challenge
This year’s theme is the Addams Family and it is my hope that many will participate. To that end I would like to announce the categories for which people can compete in.
1. Overall. The winner of this category will have the best depiction of a character from the “Addams Family”. They will have the honor of picking the theme for 2020 and of running the challenge itself.
2. Inspiring. The winner of this category will be the one who most embodies the idea of being inspired by the theme and making it work.
3. Family. This group of people will bring the Addams Family to life!
4. Youth. This young person will have embraced the theme and worked their magic. And finally
5. Distant Relative. The winner of this category will have created a wonderful piece of garb fitting the theme but sadly was unable to attend the event. YES, that is correct. I have added a category for people who cannot attend WOW for family reasons, work reasons, what ever the reason, yet they want to participate. This person is not eligible for the Overall winner and must contact me one week in advance with their entry (photos and write up on why they are in the Distant Relative category). I believe everyone who wants to participate should be able too!
Now get your thinking caps on, start drafting your designs and be ready for the best Garb Contest ever!!! October is just a few months away. The contestants will be meeting in front of the Castle on Saturday 12 noon.
The contest should take less than an hour. We will have lots of surprises never seen before and we will be providing light appropriately themed refreshments.
Registration forms will be made available the first week of September.
